PINK FunHouse Tour Review (North East Press Ltd) by Peter Fannen

PINK at Newcastle Arena 2.11.09

PINK brought t her Funhouse tour back to our region this week only 6 months since her last visit and again sold out as expected. Even before the show started the hot atmosphere in the arena proved too much for two female fans who fainted prior to PINK being seen winched from beneath a catwalk like stage, and gliding high above the crowd to the main stage.
This was to set the tone for a literally nonstop spectacle that had everything from trapeze artists, dancers, rock music and acoustic sets. PINK showed not only has she got incredible strong vocals but on this evidence, even stronger physical stamina. If you’ve seen her perform on the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards singing whilst performing impressive aerial acrobatics, then you would not have been disappointed seeing her live.
Songs such as the ever popular ‘So What’ had the crowd literally bouncing and it wasn’t until the talented Jason Chapman played a piano solo that the 30 year old PINK finally had a breather, including the crowd(!). Following moving renditions of ‘Family Portrait’ and ‘Dear Mr President’ the rock music kicked in again with a brilliant cover of Queens’ Bohemian Rhapsody and the penultimate ‘Get the Party Started’
A steamy rendition of ‘I touch Myself’, where PINK seductively caressed herself on a Chaise Longue and performed more crotch grabbing than the late Michael Jackson himself would have been proud of only added to the fantastic scorching atmosphere of this thoroughly entertaining show.
